Here we are ~ it’s less than a week until July 4th and almost halfway through summer (tell me it isn’t true!). Do you think of 4th of July as the halfway point of summer? I always have since it’s sandwiched between Memorial Day ~ the end of school and beginning of summer ~ and Labor Day ~ the end of summer and beginning of school.
How are you getting ready for the 4th of July?
Over the weekend Sweet Shark and I got down our 4th of July decorations from 2015. That was the first time that I really decorated the house for this important holiday. We were having our first really official 4th of July party and I wanted the house to be festive, colorful, and patriotic.
How I prepared for last year’s party is here, and you can see the actual completed party decorations and food and 4 recipes here. Our meal was delicious and I hope you’ll use one or all of our recipes if you are having a party this year. You have plenty of time to shop and prep.
Even though we’re not having a party this year, I still wanted to decorate the house using last year’s decorations. I had wrapped everything carefully in plastic bags and plastic storage bins. Not even a smidgen of dust!
The big pinwheel went by the front door
and my 5~year~old granddaughter did a great job of putting out our flags in the front flower beds.
I moved the banner that was in the entry way last year to the fireplace mantel in the living room.
I tied all the pinwheels to the chandelier in the breakfast room.
I placed the 2 arrangements that were table centerpieces last year on the coffee table and a side table in the living room.
Yesterday I stopped by the new Susie Cakes with my daughter and granddaughters for a little sweet snack and fell in love with these beautiful July 4th cakes. Wouldn’t these be fun cakes to serve for a party?
Now we can enjoy our red, white, and blue decorations for the rest of the week. I hope you enjoy this week leading up to fireworks and cookouts.
