Beautiful photos from Italy to share

I know today is supposed to be Tuesday Tool, Tip or Technique Day, but I’ve had an equipment issue that’s kept me from writing to you.  For the past few months, I’ve been dealing with my laptop’s funky screen and temperamental crashing and burning.  My laptop is one of the most important tools in my kitchen. It stores 1000’s of recipes, photos, documents and applications.  And, of course, it’s where I write.  It has to work ~ I know you know what I mean. I finally decided it was time to send the old girl to the laptop retirement farm. So for the past few days my laptop has been spending time with the Geek Squad at Best Buy giving up all her data to my new BFF.  I switched my allegiance, something I never thought I’d do from a PC to a Mac. So here is my new toy.

Do you remember when Barbara Streisand said, “Hello gorgeous” to the Oscar when she won the Academy award for Best Actress?  That’s the first thing that came to mind when I set her (I don’t know why I think of my Mac as a her ~ I’ll have to come up with a real name.) on my desk.  As soon as I have my office area set up, I’ll show you her new home. Until then, I want to share with you something else I came across a few days ago that is so beautiful.

Anyone who has come to one of my cooking classes knows I love Italy and Italian food. I’ve been to Italy three times, but that’s not enough. This diverse country of food, culture and terroir has such charm and allure that it’s hard to take it all in. Ironically, my upcoming classes in September are based on the cuisine of Umbria and Abruzzo (If you are interested in the class schedule for September, just subscribe to Bluesky Kitchen, and I can send it to you).

Through Dianne Jacobs, a food writer and mentor, I discovered Elizabeth Minchilli in Rome. Elizabeth is a food writer living in Rome where she gives food tours. Her blog is full of beautiful photography of food, like these that just make your mouth water.  I want a glass of cold Prosecco to savor with these dishes.

and Italian scenes, and gorgeous countryside.

And she was written several books about Italy.  I would love to have a few of these on my coffee table.

If you follow me on Pinterest or Instagram, you will definitely start seeing some of Elizabeth’s pictures there.  I just can’t resist.

Her recipes are authentic, but approachable. I can tell you that I plan to try some of them. Check back in tomorrow and I’ll share a couple of recipes with you.  The hard part will be deciding which ones.
