How to Host a Bridal Shower that is Pinterest-Worthy

This past weekend I was privileged to be part of an awesome bridal shower. I learned so many great ideas abotu how to host a bridal shower – one that is Pinterest-worthy.

The hostess Judy, who happened to be the future mother-in-law of the bride Lauren, asked me to teach a cooking class since Lauren is really into cooking.

This was probably the 7th or 8th bridal shower I’ve done in almost 13 years of teaching cooking classes and I love teaching them because they are so much fun. Judy’s lovely home (one that would make Joanna Gaines jealous) on a nearby lake was a beautiful setting for hosting a bridal shower.

What made it so special was the attention to personal details that Judy used to create a memorable event for Lauren.

Since I love hosting parties, I was anxious to see what she had in store. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was very impressed. She really knew how to host a bridal shower that is Pinterest~worthy.

In fact, I asked Judy where she got her ideas and she said she did search Pinterest. If you’ve ever needed to know how to host a bridal shower or any party, Pinterest is definitely the place to start.

After I had the kitchen set up, the main course for the lunch in the oven, and was ready for the cooking class, I had a few minutes to roam around and take pictures of all the decorations before the guests arrived.

I was so impressed with Judy’s little details that I knew I wanted to share them here on the blog. Judy was gracious enough to give me the go~ahead. She may have a new business teaching people how to host a bridal shower.

Judy’s kitchen was a dream in which to teach a cooking class. With a butler’s pantry to store extra containers, 2 islands, a huge refrigerator and plenty of  counter space, the kitchen was very efficient as well as pretty.

My assistant and I unpacked all the food for the shower and the equipment for the class that I brought on 1 of her 2 islands. The class topic was my favorite tips and tools. I brought almost 20 pieces of equipment to show Lauren, her bridesmaids, and friends. Everyone received copies of the recipes and My Favorite Tips and Tools.

Pinterest~Worthy Flower Displays

Flowers were definitely a focal point of many of the decorations. I loved this flower arrangement that Judy put in a Kitchen Aid mixer ~ a present for Lauren. What a great way to display flowers and show off a fabulous gift for the bride.

On the breakfast room table, Judy used a colander ~ also a gift for the bride ~ as a container for a beautiful flower arrangement.

Since it was Easter weekend, a bunny also made an appearance. In the background, you can see a picture of Lauren and Austin with their college letters.

Pinterest~Worthy Food

In addition to flowers, food was the main attraction. I brought a delicious Brownie Bite with Ganache and Sugared Raspberries to demonstrate as part of the cooking class.

They looked much better displayed on this 3~tiered stand. Judy had several interesting and versatile ways to display the food that showed that she really knew how to host a bridal shower with originality.

How about a yogurt station with fruit? I had never seen that before. I loved how Judy used short mason jars to hold the white and pink yogurt on ice.

Judy also provided these sweet petit fours. I think knowing how to host a bridal shower ~ or any party ~ is about offering several different kinds of food to satisfy different tastes of your guests. I love those square pink plates.

You have to have beverages at a party and Judy provided some options for her guests. First, is this cute mimosa bar. How original to offer both orange juice, raspberry lemonade, and grapefruit juice. Love the chalkboard signs. One of the younger guests (maybe the flower girl?) wrote the small sign with “raspberry” and “enjoy”.

Even the water bar offered flavored water and was decorated to Pinterest standards.

Personalized Touches for the Bride and Groom

And speaking of drinks, how about this basket of champagne as another present? It’s ready to be served at the couple’s first Christmas next December. Notice the personalized bottle labels: pictures of the couple and “Our First Christmas”. I love the sweet “Mr. and Mrs.” burlap sign on the basket.

To give the shower a personal touch for Lauren and Austin, Judy created this wooden palette board of pictures from their courtship as a backdrop on the dessert table.

This is a super cute dish towel for the bride. The pink handles on the spoons (this was by the yogurt) continues the pops of pink throughout.

More Ideas for How to Host a Bridal Shower

I missed getting photos of the place settings, but I can tell you they added to the sense of festivity and Pinterest~worthy party decor. So if you want to know how to host a bridal shower, take some cues from Judy:

  • use gifts for the bride as containers for flowers
  • personalize the decorations with photos and mementos of the bride and groom
  • use chalk board signs to describe the food and drinks
  • think of different ways to display the food; a variety of platters and serving pieces add interest to any party, especially ones that are vertical and give height to your table
  • offer different beverages, both non~and alcoholic, for your guests
  • think of different ways to serve the food, such as doughnut holes on skewers and yogurt in mason jars

Judy obviously gave a great deal of thought and preparation to this bridal shower. Since the guest of honor was her future daughter~in~law, it made the event extra special. Her research on Pinterest paid off in the pretty and creative ways she displayed the food and drinks and the personal touches she added to make it a special event for the bride.  I know it was a success because I saw how much fun everyone was having. Especially the hostess!

Next time, I’ll share some of my favorite party “must~haves”. In the meantime, you might enjoy checking out my Pinterest Party Ideas.

  1. Thanks for sharing this truly Pinterest-worthy shower on our Share Your Style Party. It was really packed with great ideas and beautiful details. I love the idea of having a cooking lesson as the activity instead of playing some of the awkward games that are often played at showers.

    1. Lisa, I’ve done 7 or 8 bridal shower cooking classes over the past 13 years. Always fun and fortunately, always a success. If you’re in the Dallas area, give me a call!
